When I’m bored or anxious, I play little games with my environment for clues on what to do. It’s a little strategy I employ to focus my attention and get clarity.
A car in front of me had LP on the plates which initially made me think of Eminem’s album, The Marshall Mathers LP, and whether anyone still calls them that. I also started to think of LP (Long Play) for short as an approach to life.
As I was feeling frenzied by the pace of the day, those 2 letters were a gentle reminder to that easily triggered yet increasingly shrinking part of me : Long Play. The magnitude of your soul isn’t encased in a “Due By” date bracket. Make your moves but not wantonly in the name of keeping up. Move consistently and surely and be gentle with yourself if you don’t get everything done in one day.
Rushing can lead to bad mistakes that leave your promising dream dead in the ground. In this age everyone’s attention is being pulled in 1000’s different directions. Intense online motivational coaches make us feel bad just for going to bed at night because THE GRIND DON’T STOP *100 emoji*!
Alternate between activity and rest, recognizing the value of both and that ignoring one will get you nowhere fast.
